April - Taxes - Spring Rain and "The Rally"
April & May 2009

I started the newsletter in April but found I didn't have a lot to say so it got shelved.  So this is a double header.

April News
April means tax time and spring rain.  Do you remember the song that went "Those April showers, will come your way.  They bring the flowers that bloom in May.........?
The Cactus Baseball League is over and I finally did get to a game like I have said I was going to for the last few years.  The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed the game with my daughter and son-in-law who were visiting from Canada, along with two of our  Grandchildren.  They couldn't get over the sunshine and were sitting outside in their shorts when the temperature was in the low 50's.  I had a coat on.  That's what happens when you live here long enough and your blood gets thin.  It's been a really cold and snowy winter in Alberta so the Arizona sunshine was just what they needed.  Needless to say  Grandma and Grandpa had a blast with the little ones.  They grow up soooo  faaaast!

It's certainly nice to see the stock market coming back again.  Let's hope the positive trend continues and spreads to other parts of the economy, particularly housing and unemployment issues.

May News
Last month "The Rally" was held in Albuquerque, NM.  If you have never attended one of these big shows it's certainly worth the trip.  There were so many vendors selling RV related products that it's amazing.  Also, the number of seminars is hard to comprehend.  You just have to go and find out for yourself what the fuss is all about.  You will see every kind of RV at this show.  ToiletPaper RollFrom pop-ups to Prevosts!  There were about 3,000 rigs in attendance.  This was the first show of our new team Lloyd (Smitty) & Louise Smith.  They had a great show and want to thank all of you who stopped by the booth.  They are pictured together on the left.

We got our warehouse moved to the new location.  It's a good idea to move every now and then just to clear up the clutter.  You know all that stuff that you can't live without or might need someday.  When it comes time to move it, you look at it once again and realize that just maybe you aren't going to need it.  The garbage man was really busy at our place that's for sure.  Getting moved and settled is a huge undertaking but it's almost behind us now.  We even added a new product this month, on top of all the other work.  Read on and you will see it below.

At the beginning of the month we hit the road for Canada.  Remember when I said earlier about the April showers bringing May flowers?  Well forget April showers and let's talk about May showers and snow flurries.  It was raining a good part of the way through Montana and into Canada.  We left Lethbridge, heading for Calgary and got stopped on the road by a blizzard!  It's cold, windy and miserable.  Oh well, what can you say.  It is what it is.  That's the price we pay for spending the season with our kids, grandkids and other family members in Canada this year.  I just hope the weather improves soon so we can get some golfing in.  Hope your RV season is a great one.

Bugs Season is Upon Us
On our trip to Canada we found the weather in Utah wasn't at all like in Arizona.  There was lots of snow on the mountains but also lots of bugs in the air.  It was actually quite surprising how many bugs I had to clean off the rig, all the way to Butte, MT.  Coming across Montana there were no bugs.  Do you know why?  They were all grounded!  The wind was so strong they couldn't fly.
ToiletPaper RollWe have been hearing some interesting stories this year about Bugs 'r Off.  In Quartzsite a fellow came up and said he thought he had bought everything on the table from us.  I asked him if he had the Bugs 'r Off yet and he replied that his camping group bought one bottle to try out when it first came out and now they all had it.  "Best bug cleaner we have ever used," he commented.
In Albuquerque a lady said she went on a caravan to Alaska and one fellow RVer had Bugs 'r Off and now all of them did.  We get asked all the time, "Will it take the wax off my rig?"  The answer is "No it won't.  It's safe to use on all surfaces, such as fiberglass, paint jobs, chrome, glass and anything you spray it on."

When I designed this I had three criteria for this new product.
#1.  It had to take Bugs off quickly and easily and not do any damage to finishes.
#2.  It couldn't remove wax.  I either worked too hard to get the wax on or paid someone else to do it.
#3.  It couldn't leave a film on the rig.  Other cleaners I had worked with left a film behind that over time could turn white or hazy on the windshield.

It took a long time for the chemist that I worked with to come up with a formula that did the job I wanted.  Motor Home Magazine did a full page article on it that raved about how good it was.
The largest Hertz Franchisee with 22 locations has changed over to it.   Their comment was that in 33 years in the business they hadn't come across anything that worked as well.   They tested two different cars that were loaded with bugs.  The first car they used their existing product and had to run it through the car wash twice and it still wasn't as clean as they wanted.  They ran the other car thru with Bugs 'r Off and it was clean after the first wash.
If you haven't tried Bugs 'r Off yet, give it a test.  You will be pleased with the results.  By the way it works GREAT for removing Love Bugs.

Look for the Special on the website.  You can get a really good savings when you purchase it with our truly great Microfiber product.

Going Green
A lot of people are talking about Going Green.  We all need to be aware of the impact that we as RVers have on the planet and anything we can do in our own little way adds up.  At Coil n' Wrap we are looking for Great Green Products, something that adds to our lifestyle and doesn't impact the environment and if possible, has a positive impact on our wallet.

One of our best products of course is the Xtreme Vent.  It not only eliminates holding tank odors, it also eliminates the need for chemicals.  That's a three way win, no more chemicals going into the environment, no more money coming out of your wallet and no more odors. If you are unfamiliar with the Xtreme Vent click here to read more.

For years people have talked about solar energy and now President Obama is putting a big push on Going Green with energy.  Many of us have Solar Panels on the roof and even others have windmills.  We are now going to introduce a line of Solar Lights that don't require batteries.  No more buying batteries and then discarding them into landfills.  Batteries not only take up space in our rig but they are costly and most flashlights seem to be dead when you need them.  A solar flashlight recharges itself with regular light, whether that is sunlight or light from a fluorescent tube, halogen or incandescent bulbs.
The first of this line is the Inspection Mirror.  Inspection Mirrors have been around forever. They have a flexible arm that connects to a mirror so you can see behind difficult to get Inspection Mirrorat locations.  The biggest problem is it's usually dark in those spots.  This new Inspection Mirror has an LED built into it and of course the rechargeable battery is solar powered.  I loved the product the moment I saw it.  How many times have you had to work in a difficult location, such as behind a TV, computer or engine compartment and not only was it cramped and difficult but it was dark in there.  I had to Inspection Mirror Onchange the air filter on my rig the other day and hadn't done it before.  It's about three feet high and had some connections that were at the bottom, which I couldn't get to.  The Inspection Lamp made it a breeze.  I could see what was securing the filter at the bottom.  This showed me what tools I needed to get the job done and I could see what I was working on. The same day a friend came over to help me with a problem in the rig under the sink.  We couldn't get into the area to see how to solve the problem.  I pulled out the Inspection Lamp and the answer was obvious.  He took one home with him.   The Inspection Mirror is absolutely invaluable!  When you need it there is nothing else that can replace it! The battery charge will last for four hours and if it's locked away inside a dark toolbox, it only loses 2% per month of its charge.  At the end of the year it's still got 75% of its charge available!  This will make a great gift idea for Fathers Day, birthdays or just a unique present for a friend.  Every RVer should have one that's for sure.

It measures 15" overall.  The mirror is about 2.75" x 2".

Stay tuned for other innovative Green Products.
New InstaHangers Available
Highways Magazine did an article on the InstaHanger this month.  It's been flying out the InstaHanger Espressodoor ever since.  There are two new models available that have Picture Frames attached so you can put family pictures in them.  They are selling fast and our next shipment won't be in until the end of the month so if you decide to order one of these units, you may have to wait for it to be shipped to you.  The dark wood unit pictured above is called Espresso.

Insta Hanger Chestnut Pic FrameThey're really a handy dandy item, whether you use it in the RV, the laundry room, bedroom garage or your office.  We are getting many orders for 2 or 3.  The one to the left is a Chestnut color.

A less expensive white plastic version is also available but it doesn't have the picture frame.

It's not necessary to use screws to attach them to the wall.  Take a look at the website where i show you
how to use our High Temp Sticky Back to hang them on the wall.

They measure 18" x 3" when folded flat.  The rod on the InstaHanger is 12" in length when extended.
