October in Canada means Thanksgiving.  Thanks for the weather
that's for sure.

Oct 2009

October has arrived in Alberta but so far we have dodged both snow and frost.  I don't think that will last much longer, however I hope the warm weather we have been experiencing keeps up for a couple of weeks and then warms up.  Isn't that wishful thinking!   The weather has been incredibly warm.  Temperatures in the mid to high 80's in Sept are unheard of.  Apparently September will be a record warm month dating back to 1881. It won't be long before we head south to Arizona again and wrap us this extended holiday in Canada.  Seeing the family and kids has been a blast but the weather will eventually force us to head back south.  We'll follow the last flight of geese as those snowbirds head south as well.  We're seeing lots of geese in the air right now.

The staff in the warehouse have done a great job of running things while we have been gone, just like when we were on the road doing shows for so many years.

We returned from our Quebec trip where we certainly had an enjoyable time in the countryside. We only spent half a day in Quebec City and you could easily spend a few days there.  It's the most Eurpean city in North America.  It's just fantastic.  The original walled city is intact with the old European style buildings and roads.  The restaurants are just great with so much outside seating that you would think you were in Paris.  We travelled the north side of the St. Lawrence river and then took a ferry and crossed to the south side.  The river is so wide it took more than an hour to cross it.  We then travelled west thru the Eastern Townships.  Everywhere we went the hospitality was great, the food even better and every corner was a new picture postcard.  If you haven't been there I highly recommend it.  One of the concerns for many people is whether they can get along in a predominantly French speaking area.  There wasn't a problem anywhere at all.  If someone couldn't speak English they located someone else who could.  Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada in October.  We haven't been in Canada in October for years so we are going to celebrate it this year with family and friends.  Should be an enjoyable time.  We will be back in AZ for US Thanksgiving so we can celebrate it with all of our friends in the US.

New Motion Detector Light

ON SALE THIS MONTH
We are putting the Motion Detector Light on sale this month.  The MSRP is $99.95 but we will have it available for $79.95 for the month of October.  This is truly a great product.

The Smart Light Motion Detector Light has been a huge hit ever since it hit the market.  Now they have released a NEW BLACKStarLight Black unit and the response has been tremendous.  Many units have full paint jobs and RVers have been asking for a black unit and now it's available in black or white.

The Motion Detector Light replaces your front door light and gives you two options.  Turn the light switch on and the light comes on, just like before.  Turn the switch off and on

ToiletPaper Roll

again and the light goes out and now becomes a motion detector light.  The light will turn on when someone approaches the rig.  How often have you come home in the dark and wished you had left the outside light on?  No more fumbling for keys or wondering what you might trip over.  It also provides security as it will come on when ever someone comes around the rig, whether you are there or not.

Benefits:
Easy to install
Provides security and will assist in reducing theft
Provides light where you want it, when you need it
TWO motion detectors, with a sensing range of 180  degrees
Battery sensor - shuts the light off if the battery level is low so it won't run the batteries flat
Flashing sensor makes it appear the rig has a security system
Available in black or white
Adjustable range from 10' to 25'
Thieves don't expect a rig to have a motion detector light

RV Sales Heading Up
My water pump quit on me so I contacted one of the wholesaler who represents our products to get a new one.  Imagine my surprise when they said they didn't have any!  They have been in business for more than 40 years and this is the first time they have been out of water pumps.  They ordered them in mid-August and they were just being shipped the beginning of October.  The reason - Sales of new RV's by the manufacturers were projected to be 110,000 for this year.  The manufacturers of products for the wholesalers adjusted their ordering and their staff to reflect a significant downturn in the market.  Sales turned out to be 150,000 units and they have been scrambling to catch up.  Sales of replacement pumps were also up as so many RVers were keeping their rigs and not trading them in.  In addition people are using their rigs now more than ever.  Campgrounds have had a banner year.

Sales of new RV's are up 16% in August compared to a year ago.  This is exciting news as it means that not only are consumers buying but that banks are lending.  GREAT NEWS!
RV Humor

An RVer drops his coach off for service and walks out to the highway and flags down a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, 'Perfect timing. You're just like Frank.'
RV Passenger: 'Who?'
Cabbie: 'Frank Feldman. He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time.'
RV Passenger: 'There are always a few clouds over everybody.'
Cabbie: 'Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy.'
RV Passenger: 'Sounds like he was something really special.'
Cabbie: 'There's more... He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a
fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, he could do everything right'
RV Passenger: 'Wow, some guy then.'
Cabbie: 'He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her
feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too - He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman.'
RV Passenger: 'An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?'
Cabbie: 'Well, I never actually met Frank, he died. I married his widow.'

Highways Magazine Articles
Over the years many of our products have been written up in Highways Magazine.  This is FREE advertising for us and it is amazing how our business has benefited as a result of these articles.  The most recent product that was written up was the Inspection Mirror with LED which has been enthusiastically embraced by RVers all over the US and Canada.  The tremendous response made us think back to another product that was overwhelmingly received a couple of years ago, High Temp Sticky Back.   The Highways Article resulted in hundreds of sales of this product and the enthusiasm for it has not abated.

It's the only hook and loop sticky back product on the market that WON'T fall off the walls when the temperature gets too high as a result of the sun beating in thru the windshield and raising the temperature.  You can even use this product on your dash or windshield and it won't melt off.  Hang pictures, secure your GPS, drapes, flowers, sun screens, things on your counters in the kitchen and bathroom or wherever and whatever you are trying to secure.

If you see a Hook & Loop product in the stores that says it's Industrial Strength, don't be fooled.  They are NOT talking about the adhesive, they are talking about the Hook & Loop!  Our is the only High Temperature product that is available to the consumer.
The adhesive has a melt point of 212 degrees.  If it gets that hot in your rig, you had better call 911.

Check out the website for other uses and ideas.  You will probably find another 20 uses on your own once you start using it.
