January means the Quartzsite RV Show is on!

Jan 2009

Judy and I hope that your Christmas season was a GREAT one and you and your friends and family have a fabulous New Year.  We spent our Xmas with relatives here in Surprise and had a great time.  We played a lot of cards, had some great food but didn't get to golf at all.  As in most places in the nation is was unusually cold.  I was just glad we weren't traveling on the highways or by airplane as there was no shortage of lousy weather that affected a good part of the US and Canada.  We hope this weather didn't impact your travel plans and ruin your Christmas.

Every January, Quartzsite, Arizona overflows with hundreds of thousands of RVers who come to this small town, two hours west of Phoenix, to spend some or all of their winter enjoying the desert and the enormous amount of vendors that are in attendance during the winter months.  You can buy everything from soup to nuts at this show.  Anything from a replacement refrigerator, to shop tools, a used or new RV, windmills, solar panels and a list of other things that is impossible to comprehend.  You can easily spend a week wandering around all the vendors that are here.

The season starts with the Gem Show.  It is one of the largest shows in the entire world and runs the first couple of weeks in January.  Here you can buy raw gems and stones from around the world either one at a time or by the drum full.  However, most RVers come for the Quartzsite RV Show which this year starts Jan 17 and goes until the 25th, followed on its' heels by the Antique Car & Craft Show which finishes up at the end of the month.

There are RV's parked all over the desert.  Thousands and thousands of them.  It truly is a sight to behold.  Every RVer needs to come to this little town west of Phoenix to experience this event.  For some people once is enough and for many others they come every year to take in the great deals, renew friendships and soak in the ambience that is unlike any other show in the RV world.

This will be the 7th year that Judy and I have done this show and we are constantly amazed at the number of RVers that come to the Big Tent as it's called.  If you come this year we will be in the Big Tent on the south wall near the center entrance.  Our booth numbers are 131 & 132.  We look forward to seeing you and know you will enjoy Quartzsite.  It is an adventure you should experience at least once.

Travel safely,
Ken & Judy Wilton

New Years Means Looking Back
In the opening paragraph I talked about Quartzsite and the unique RV experience that it is.  What most of you don't know is that is where we got our start.  We started our company in Quartzsite.  We were attending a Newmar Rally in Quartzsite and went to say goodbye to the directors of our area and were told they were down in Tyson Wells in their booth.  What booth, we exclaimed?  Where is it?  What do they sell?  We got directions and went down to see what they were selling.  We liked what we saw and the reaction of the public to the product.  They said they were so busy being directors of Newmar they didn't have time to do the business and were thinking of selling it.  I said, "I'm thinking of buying it" and one week later, at the conclusion of the Quartzsite show, we loaded it into our motorhome and the rest is history.  They only had 6 products and today we have more than 75.  A lot has changed since then but the products we started with are still some of the biggest selling products we have today.  What was it we started with?

We started with our Coiling System, a unique system that allows you to coil up hoses cords and cables into compact and tidy bundles for easy storage and it also eliminates all twisting and kinking.  You will never have a problem wrapping up your hoses, cords and cables every again.  Many of you have used these products for years and swear by them.  For those of you who haven't used them check them out on the website and watch the videos.  The preceding link will show you the water hose coiling products.  Other videos will show you TV Cable Coiling, 30 amp and extension cord coiling.  If you haven't used these products you will be amazed!  Thus the company name, "Coil n' Wrap".

Is your water safe?
We all travel down the road and load up our holding tanks with water from various campgrounds some of whom are on their own well.  We assume the water content is safe because everyone else is drinking it, but is it?  Could it have been contaminated by some outside source such as possums, coons or what have you?

Most RVers don't drain their water tanks and flush them with a cleaner to make sure their water is safe.  They just keep adding more and more water over the years.  Sometimes the rig sits for weeks or months at a time with water still in the tank or lines.  Water over time, when exposed to heat, can turn nasty.  Many people travel from home and then park for the winter months and use local water, meaning the water in the tank isn't being used and is sitting there for an extended period of time.

I often wondered how I could check to see if my water was okay or not but didn't know how to do it.  I couldn't find a testing product at my RV dealer and they were unaware of one.  I came across one recently and was wondering if this was an issue for you as well as me.  We haven't yet decided to add this product to our product line as I wanted you, our customer, to let me know if you think it would be a product you would be interested in having.  The product would cost $10 and would be good for one test.  It tells you overnight if the water in the tank is safe or not.  Please email kwilton@coilnwrap.com if you think this is a product that would be of interest to you.  That will help us to determine if we should add it to the product line.  Thanks for your input.
Smart Light Bug Bulbs Now Available
Star Light Ever since we introduced the RV Security Smart Light to the marketplace it has been greeted with open arms and a ton of praise.   Now we have the orange bug light replacement bulb available to you as well as regular replacement bulbs.  Some people have complained about the flashing indicator light that is bright and at night can be an annoyance.  Other people love it because it appears that you also have an alarm system in the rig.  The manufacturer was listening and has come up with a little boot that slips over the flashing light and effectively eliminates it.  It costs $1.00 and can be ordered on the website.

The Smart Light is the only 12 volt motion detector light in the market.  It replaces the light at your front door and works as a normal porch light, except that it throws a lot more light than traditional lights, or as a motion detector light.  When you come home after dark, the light comes on!  It also works as a security light so if someone comes around your rig after hours to see what you left outside, the light comes on.  Judy says it is one of the best things we ever added to our rig, she just loves it.  "It's so nice when we come after dark and I don't have to struggle to get the key in the door and I am not worrying about tripping over something".
